Voting for Change
Our congregation has been known as Southside Church of the Nazarene since 1966. In 2021, the church board and members of congregation elected and received permission to change the name to Compassion Church of the Nazarene.
Selection of the church name
We are instructed in Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” And Colossians 3:12: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
Of the many services our church can provide, compassion to others is the first step in reaching out to help others and reminder to all of us of what Jesus came to this Earth to give us.
A Compassionate Ministry
With prayer, volunteering, community outreach through our church food bank, prayer chain, morning Sunday worship and praise, Wednesday night Bible studies, monthly community potluck and game nights, men’s prayer breakfast, card ministry program, the Compassion Church of the Nazarene is honored to serve in discipleship as an extension of God’s hand to help reach communities for Christ.
